Newcastle United (4-4-1-1): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Fabricio Coloccini (c) (Mike Williamson 46), Steven Taylor (Dan Gosling 63), Davide Santon; Ryan Taylor (James Perch 28), Cheick Tiote (Romain Amalfitano 71), Sylvain Marveaux (Haris Vuckic 46), Jonas Gutierrez; Gabriel Obertan (Adam Campbell 84); Shola Ameobi
Sub not used: Steve Harper
Referee: Mark Whitby
Attendance: 9,682

Good to see all our players fit anyway though Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa and Cabaye did not travel.

Bit weird seeing Cardiff in red, most bizarre ...

What is happening with Danny Simpson then ??? Do we think he will be right back against Tottenham ???

I expect him to see him start. But I also hope to see Debuchy signed by Thursday and on the bench for Saturday evening.

Potentially clever negotiating strategy by Pardew as he shows the board what happens when key players are missing? Get the signings in!

Bit later than planned...

1st half was very disappointing, couldn't quite work out who was playing where & was all a bit of a mess. Reminded me of watching Swindon ::)

Toon fans were on good form, obviously the inflatable sheep came out for a while while singing about the Cardiff fans sexual preferences.... ;D Cardiff fans were just quiet till they got their 3rd & then they instantly settled down again zzzz.

We looked better once R Taylor (Average player with occasional lucky dead-ball effort) went off. But to be fair what did we expect from this with Cisse, Ba, Ben Arfa & Cabaye missing.

Santon was arguably the least rubbish player on the day (S Taylor & Tiote were decent early on), the new diminutive 17 year old showed a fair bit of promise & I look forward to seeing more of him over the season as a sub. Obviously Obertan & Shola were a joke, Simpson not much better.

Roll on Spurs, but we're going to need to do a lot better than this or be prepared to be properly embarrassed.
