Round 7bb - Europa League matches going forward
« on: September 21, 2012, 04:36:27 pm »
I'm going to make an executive decision here and say that the Europa League matches will not qualify for the predictions league going forward as it's not a proper competition and we keep forgetting about it.

Maybe we may review this decision if we ever get out the group stages into later knock out rounds when it might get mildly interesting.

Do we count last nights already input scores given that Mackem2 got the maximum 5 points ????

I vote to keep predicting all matches. The results in this comp, remain as unpredictable as any other match.
Regarding people forgetting, maybe if it was possible to predict on two match threads at a time when a Euro match is due, more people would fill in both?

I missed Sunday's game (thought id predicted a 2-1 win but apparently forgot...), does this mean we can remove all points from that game?

PS. for what it's worth

NUFC 0-2 Bordeaux

Are we just forgetting about the Europa league because Slam Dunc couldn't figure out how to create a league table?  ;)

In case anybody's bothered I'm going for 1-1 ... Bordeaux did well against Brugge and I don't think it will be easy.

By the way it's getting embarrassing that Mackem 2 is doing so well !!

To further confuse whether or not predicting these results continues it appears there are now two places we could put them! Are you all trying to cease my glorious rise to somewhere near the top of the predictions league? If so I won't be thwarted and will copy and paste this entry into both!

No need to be embarrased that I'm doing so well - you too could turn around your misserable form by supporting the heros in red and white!

Newcastle reserves struggle to score but the game is at the Sports Direct Arena (or do we call it the JJB stadium for worthless European matches now Ashley has got his grubby little paws on them?) and Bordeaux are French so will no doubt travel badly.

As for my prediction - a draw seems probable so lets say Newcastle 1 - 1 Bordeaux

So we've got Brugge in town for the first game back at St James Park then...I think it'll be harder work than the Bordeaux game (simply cos we will expect it to be easier)

My team mate, from Brugge, is going with the away support, and my parents are visiting so I may not even get to see it anyway...for that reason I hope it is a thoroughly boring!

1-0 to Newcastle goal in the 94th minute after the majority have started making their way home

Home to Maritimo then with a bonus point if you have ever heard of them before we played them in the first match at their place.

Surely even we can win this one:

Newcastle 4 Maritimo 0

Im taking that bonus point! Years of playing FIFA and Football Manager finally come to good use!

2-0 for us to go through pretty comfortably
