Feeling optimistic about this one, mainly because Sunderland can't score and we can and I'd hate to see Mackem2 having any fun on the day at all:

Sunderland 0 Newcastle 1

Having just written the match preview:

I've changed my mind on this game. The grimness of Sunderland under Martin O'Neill has seen them draw 9 of their last 14 matches and only Steven Fletcher has scored for them. We are little better as only Ba and Ben Arfa have scored for us, so only 3 players on the pitch have scored this season  :o  :o  :o

So I'm going for a draw, will it be 0-0, 1-1 or 5-5, thats the choice :

By the laws of averages Sunderland are going to win a derby eventually ... however hopefully not this one! ;-)

Sunderland 1 Toon 1 ... it is at the Stadium of Plight after all. Save the 5-1 thrashings for SJP  :D

So here it is, the big one....................

The Mags don't travel that well, prefering the JJB Sports Direct Arena to any proper footballing venue whereas under O'Neil its fortress SOL (well for securing a point a game anyway).

I'm going for a 2 - 1 home win - thats

Sunderland 2 - 1 Newcastle.

Last time I went to the big derby it was at the Mike Ashley Arena, we got stuffed 2 - 0 and some of the fighting I saw at Central Station was pretty embarasing - it turns out my cousin was part of it - this did not impress.

O'Neill will have done his homework and worked out that if you stop Demba Ba and Ben Arfa we've got no one else to score.

So he'll kick them to bits and hope for a bit of luck for Fletcher to bang another one in in our end
