Sun 4th Nov - Liverpool 1 Newcastle 1
« on: October 31, 2012, 10:50:26 pm »
Live on Sky at 4pm.

Cheik Tiote serving the second of his three match ban.

Some doubt over the fitness of Demba Ba but otherwsie expect an unchanged team from the West Brom match :

                       Krul
Simpson    Coloccini    Williamson   Santon
Ben Arfa       Perch    Cabaye  Gutierrez
                 Ba (Cisse)  Ameobi

The stats are not good here, we have lost in our last seven visits to Anfield and all of those by at least two goals. Hmmmm , and we have not won at Anfield since 1994, 18 years ago.

It looks like Demba Ba who has scored seven goals this season will be fit to play.

How about this for a statistic:
Since 25 February all of Newcastle's league goals have been scored by players whose surnames begin with the letters A, B or C

fascinating huh !!!

Team to start:

Krul
Anita - Colo - Taylor - Santon
Benny - Perch - Cabaye - Jonas
Ba - Cisse

Bench: Harper, Willo, Fergusson, Simpson, Obertan and the Ameobi Bros. (Simpson a last minute replacement on the bench for Bigi, suggests Gael has some kinda of injury...)

Liverpool:

Jones
Wisdom, Agger, Skrtel, Jose
Suso, Allen, Gerrard, Sahin, Sterling
Suarez

Bench: Gulacsi, Henderson, Assaidi, Carragher, Coates, Shelvey & Downing.

Looking at their defenders/keeper I reckon we have a chance of nicking a goal or two.

Surprising team selection.

Anita in at full back begs the question is that better than bringing in Ferguson at left back and putting Santon at right back. Given how successful we have been offensively with Ferguson's brilliant crosses into the box.

Obviously hoping that the ball going in off Cisse back side last week will give him enough confidence to start scoring today.

Will we be 4-3-3 with a fairly negative 3 across the middle and Ben Arfa pushed up ??

Liverpool loading down our right defence into Anita and Ben Arfa, it's not looking good down there.

Concerned about Anita at right back with little cover from Ben Arfa

In the game now. We look much better with Anita now in midfield and Simpson at right back with Perch off injured

Demba Ba recurrence of shin injury gives his gloves to Ben Arfa and leaves.

But Sammi ameobi in good form, good opportunity for him.

I'm sensing a dramatic late winner here, open game could go either way

full time

good point for us, slightly fortunate, quite a battle.

Liverpool will be good when they get a couple of strikers

Michael Owen on the red card:

Most of you seem certain that it was a red card. Didn't look like it to me. Let's see the replay shortly. Not having that at all. He didn't touch him and to say there was intent is laughable. Let me tell you, he kicks a moving ball a thousand times a day and doesn't miss it once. If he wanted to connect with a standing leg then he wouldn't of missed. He pulls out at the last minute and doesn't touch him. Not having that's a red at all.

I think that is a fair point by Michael Owen.

However you can hardly blame the officials for sending him off for seeing a tackle with his foot up like that.

It took some debate and numerous replays to show that there probably was no intent in the challenge. There's no time for that in a match, just get him off and debate it later.

Unless I've missed something, the 'debate it later' bit is being skipped & our best defender will be missing for 3 games now?
