I can't see why McClaren will change his starting line up against Southampton unless Anita is not fully fit in which case Tiote will play. Also he may choose to start with Mitrovic given the apparent frustration with Cisse from the bench last week. but I think that's unlikely in both cases.

Hence expect the starting line up to be once again :

                              Krul
Janmatt       Mbemba       Coloccini      Haidara
                     Anita            Colback
Sissoko                  Wijnaldum          Obertan
                               Cisse

This is a big test of how far McClaren has improved the team and team spirit as Swansea looked pretty impressive against Chelsea last week.

Last season we had the second worst away record in the Premier League ahead only of QPR and have lost our last 6 away matches scoring only 1 goal during that time. Overall we lost 12 away matches last season, drawing 4 and winning only 3.

Just to make it even more worrying Swansea have taken more points off us since their return to the Premier League than any other side in that period. But maybe their luck will run our !!

The Swansea defence is not the strongest with their goalkeeper Fabianski making 139 saves since the start of last season, more than any other goalkeeper. However their strikeforce of Gomez and Ayew look to be in good form which will challenge our own very dodgy defence.

I'm expecting a cracking open game with two attacking sides going for goals, there could be quite a few of them.

Don't think we were expecting to get anything out of this game but the performance was a worry.

From a team that's been accused of lack of character this looks all too familiar with 7 straight away defeats now and only 1 away goal.

Playing 50 minutes with 10 men against a rampant Swansea team did not help. Given the recent history of Janmaat should McClaren have whipped him off the field before he got sent off ?

Whilst Montero ripped us apart down the left where was the game plan to double up on him with our wide men and give Janmaat and later Mbemba some support. I thought Obertan was in the team for his hard work and defensive abilities and what about Sissoko ? Neither seemed to be giving Janmaat or Mbemba much help down that flank. Was that the reason for Sissoko's half time substitution rather than the mystery groin strain ?

The clamor is on now for Mitrovic to start next week, he's certainly looking frustrated at only 24 minutes play given that he's earned himself two bookings in those two games. Referees will be watching him closely too now. I sense our monumental red card total could be increasing even more soon if he does not channel his aggression more effectively.

Lack of discipline, lack of character, these are management issues McClaren needs to sort out.

We didn't expect many points if any from our opening 4 matches, but good performances would maintain the pre season optimism. Looking at Southampton's thrashing at home to Everton puts last weeks home draw with them in perspective.

Who's looking forward to Manchester United away now ?

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Krul 6; Janmaat 3.5, Mbemba 5, Coloccini 5.5, Haidara 5; Anita 5.5, Colback 6; Sissoko 6.5 (Taylor 46, 5.5), Wijnaldum 5.5, Obertan 6 (Mitrovic 83); Cisse 5 (Aarons 54, 6).
Subs not used: Williamson, Perez, Tiote, Darlow
Booked: Janmaat, Mitrovic
Sent off: Janmaat
Referee: Mike Jones
Attendance: 20,678
