Sam's aging rapidly

Before         After

What a week in the circus called Newcastle United

Sam should know all about managing Newcastle United after this week and at last be feeling like he's managing a big club. Probably safe to say sleepy old Bolton was nothing like this.

How about this for a week:

Thursday 26th July
The Nationals are full of rumours that Kevin Keegan is coming back as Director of Football and Alan Shearer is being approached to be the new team manager

Friday 27th July
Your new owner spends £98 million on Adidas shares

Saturday 28th July
You read in the papers that because of the £80 million debt inherited from the previous club management the new owners won't release any money for players

Sunday 29th July
You try to use the Sunday press to crank up the pressure on your new Chairman but get gazumped by the previous Chairman grabbing the headlines with his 'stabbed in the back' Mail on Sunday interview.
The team play well and beat Juventus 2-0
The one player you want to crank up the price on to get money to trade gets attacked by fans and immediately undermines your efforts to hold out for top money

Monday 30th July
Meeting with the new Chairman to try and sort out the mess and discuss transfer targets

Tuesday 31st July
First talk in with Geordie fans at a packed 'Shearers Bar'. Fortunately Shearer did not turn up to ask his prepared question 'who do you think the next manager of Newcastle United should be ?'

Wednsday 1st Aug
Kieron Dyer your main chance of fund raising continues to try and get away at a cheap price as everyone closely studies his injury record and £4 million a year salary.

Well good luck Sam and welcome to the Geordie nation. If you can sort our basket case of a club out then you know you've really achieved something in your career.
