An exclusive in the Sun yesterday states that Ashley received an offer from a Chinese consortium to buy Newcastle United and give him a £20 million profit.
Also said to be an American investor prepared to rival their bid.
Given that this is the same Mike Ashley who bought and sold a 3% stake in Addidas over a few weeks making £30 million profit and people would not bid if they thought there was no chance of a deal then you do wonder what is going on.
Ashley has turned the offers down but word from the Ashley camp is that he got the club relatively cheap and is now being offered the chance to make a big profit.
Time for a declaration of loyalty from the new owner?
